A Great Interior Design Book
Decorating can be great even if you’re in an apartment, and if it seems like all the decorating books are guides for houses, Paige Gilchrist has written a great book on apartment decoration. Kyle says it’s the book that will open your mind to all kinds of wonderful decorating ideas you haven’t even thought of:
My absolute favorite home decorating book to this point has been “Decorating Your First Apartment: From Moving In to Making It Your Own” by Paige Gilchrist. This book has taken me from my very first apartment and well beyond that! The book includes many cost saving tips on decorating an apartment or a house. There are so many creative ideas that I feel like I never would have thought of on my own. In my case, I did not have a lot of money to spend on decorating and was getting frustrated with shopping around for inexpensive decor. Everything I was finding simply was not good enough for my plans. So, I ran across this book and it was the best purchase I made regarding my home decor. Some of the cost- saving ideas include gathering paint samples of various colors and purchasing an inexpensive coffee table from a second hand store. Paste or tape the paint samples to the top of the table in any sort of design or order that you would like. Then purchase a piece of glass to fit the top of the table and BAM you have a modern and unique piece of art for a coffee table! There are also many painting tips to make the space look larger or tips for alternatives to painting if painting is not an option. I find myself referring back to this book all the time even now and I am way past my first apartment. Every time I want a new and creative do-it-yourself decorating idea I pull out this book. It is very inspiring and great on my pocketbook! I even prefer to use this book as opposed to purchasing decorative items for my home although I can afford to spend some extra money at this point in my life. I would highly recommend this wonderful book to anyone who likes to be inspired and who likes to decorate in an innovative manner!
