Home Decoration Ideas: Here’s A Truly Unique Theme
When you finally get your OWN house – the decorating possibilities are endless! Now, you can do things the way you’ve always wanted. And if it’s something really wild, like a wild cat theme, it may seem hard, but it’s not! Read Farrah’s story about creating the best wild cat theme in her new home – which was easy and turned out great!
When I was growing up, I could not wait to get my own house. I wanted to decorate in my own style and flair. I had always wanted a wild cat themed room, but when I got my own home, I didn’t know which room to do it in. I felt this theme would only do well in a basement, den, or bedroom. Since I owned so many stuffed animals, I decided to do the bedroom. I started by going to a few paint supply stores. I checked out the higher end stores, but as it turned out, their quality was not much better than what I could find at Home Depot. After explaining the color I wanted to the paint specialist, I had him mix up a custom color. I wanted a very soft beige, so I could build on it with details. I didn’t want the color to be too brown or too yellow. The color was perfect, and I picked out a great leopard print border that matched well. At $15.00 per gallon for paint, and $15.00 per roll for border, I was able to get plenty extra just in case I messed up. Once I painted and put the border up, I did some furniture shopping. I wanted dark, shiny wood, because I thought it would stand out nicely against the animal prints. I found a great four piece set at Value City for under $2000.00. I also bought leopard print bedding there. Detailing the room was easy once I did all the main decorating. I bought brass and resin statues of lions and tigers, candles that were tiger striped, and framed photos of several types of wild cats. My bedroom looked amazing when I was done. It had a truly unique look, and it showcased my personality as well!
