When it comes to decorating a bedroom, it helps to nail down a specific overall theme. A great starting place is to simply think of your favorite color and your significant other’s favorite color and combine them in a unique way.

My husband and I love the colors red and black, so for our bedroom we put down a really soft black carpet. Then I went to the craft store and got red see-through fabric. So when I got back home I sewed a little hoop together on the top of the fabric so I could put it on the curtain hanger, which was black. I drew the curtains back and fixed them to the wall with a thumbtack. They look beautiful, and I also put up black blinds so they match with everything. Then at Target I found a beautiful red rug with black outlining and that fit perfectly in the room. I went to Wal-Mart the next day and found a beautiful red bed set; it was red with black outlining too. Then the walls looked out of tune with the rest of the room so I went to home depot and got a nice red and painted the walls. I went back and got black paint and painted a three inch border on the tops and bottom of the walls. I found gold colored lamps, frames and two little black dressers at the local furniture shop and put them in the room. I put the two dressers on each side of the bed. The gold lamps went on top of the dressers and I put a picture of my husband and me in the frame and hung it up. The gold in the room gave it that extra touch. The only people allowed in the room are me and my husband, so it feels extra special. The fact that the room is designed so beautifully to suit both of our tastes puts us in a good mood when we enter it at night. Overall, it’s our perfect dream bedroom.
