Beach Bathroom Decor

Living just a few minutes away from the beach gave Serena the inspiration she needed to do a complete overhaul on her guest bathroom. And best of all, she managed to get all the decor accessories she needed to fully outfit the room while sticking to her budget…with a little help from coupons she found in her mailbox. See how she did it:

I recently decorated the spare bathroom in my house and I had a great time doing it. We recently moved into this house and the previous owners had white walls and a shell themed wallpaper border along the top of the wall. At first we did not mind the border and the white walls but we did not have any shell decorations to make the room look fun. So, we decided to decorate the bathroom how we wanted. Our theme was “a day at the beach” and I was inspired by a picture in a Bed Bath and Beyond catalog. I also liked the theme because we live only five minutes from the beach anyway so why not bring the beach to the house. I also thought some of the accessories in the catalog looked fun and would brighten up the bathroom. So, the first thing we did was go to Lowe’s to purchase some paint. The paint was about ten dollars with a five dollar rebate. We bought Ocean Sigh Valspar paint which is a light blue color. We then got home and started to paint the bathroom. This was the hardest part because we had to take down the shower curtain, mirrors, outlet covers, and the previous wallpaper. We then let the paint dry for a day. The day the paint was drying we went to Bed Bath and Beyond to purchase some of those decorations I saw in the magazine. We ended up getting a beach themed shower curtain, a flip flop rug, flip flop towel, sail boat towel, flip flop lotion dispenser, a beach towel soap holder and a beach umbrella toothbrush holder. All of the decorations were under one hundred dollars. I was able to keep the price low thanks to those coupons the store sends out in the mail. When we got home, we put all of those decorations in the bathroom along with a white trashcan and a tan rug in front of the shower. Now, my favorite bathroom in the whole house is our spare bathroom because it is so bright and fun.
