Bathroom Makeover Ideas
Sometimes an inspiration for a whole bathroom can come from the theme of one accessory. Marjorie was inspired by a patterned shower curtain and she used it to guide her whole bathroom theme. Read how she took a simple idea and used it to create the perfect feel:
My bathroom, though small, was not any easy room to decorate. I tried several different color schemes until I found the right one. Till this day I still cannot quite find the right balance of modern and warmth for such a small space. I did, however, stick with the same decor for my biggest bathroom of the two. The bathroom is not the most important room of the house, so I thought it would be alright to make it the color I wanted. So I went with my favorite color: purple. I am a big fan of contrasting colors, so I wanted to come up with a second and third color to compliment the light and dark purples. After looking at different color variations, I ultimately went with silver and black undertones. My inspiration came from the floral shower curtain that I purchased from WalMart for around $20.00. I could see the silver undertones amongst the light purple flowers. I added a silver brushed curtain rod from WalMart ($19.99) and the accessories that went along with the curtain. This included the trash can, tissue dispenser, and soap pump ($40). Then it was time for me to add a little more to my bare counters. I was really inspired by the canisters I often seen with bath salts and things like that in them. So I searched several different stores until I found the right one. I many found some tri-leveled jars with silver lids at Target for about $30 for all three. I didn’t like the color of the lid as the color silver was getting a little too repetitive. So I spray painted the lids black and added purple and white bath salts, Q-tips, and cleansing pads to the jars. I put a wicker laundry hamper in the far corner of the bathroom and a added a bamboo towel holder to the wall. I brought the whole design together with two rugs – one light purple for in front of the sink, and one dark purple for in front of the toilet.
