Bathroom Home Improvement Ideas

Want to create a bathroom theme that’s subtle, relaxing, and unique to you and your family? Monique shares some tips on how she created a perfect bathroom for her that will also work wonderfully for her daughter as she gets older:

I first chose a color theme of blue, green, and navy. I then set out to find all of the accessories I wanted to have in my bathroom first before I thought about paint. I picked up blue bath mats, and was lucky enough to find a shower curtain that tied in all of my chosen colors. Once I had all my accessories in place, I went to the hardware store and had help choosing a paint that wouldn’t be affected by the moisture from a muggy bathroom. However, I chose two different colors. I chose both green and the sea-blue colors I had been working with. I painted most of the bathroom in the sea-blue color and decided on painting the wall right by the door, green. Figuring that wasn’t enough for my colorful new bathroom, I then chose inspirational words I liked and borrowed a really pretty stencil from my friend so that I could stencil in the letters above my mirror and behind the mirror. When you are brushing your teeth, you can read the words behind you from left to right. I bought towels in all of my theme colors and sewed curtains for the one window in the deep, navy blue color. While these are rather unconventional decisions in terms of color, it has ended up being a very unique looking bathroom and the three colors together are rather calming even though they are pretty bold. I even found a see-through green bar of soap with a little rubber ducky in the middle. Being that this will one day be my daughter’s main bathroom, I figured this was quite fitting (Even though I wouldn’t mind rubber ducks in my own bathroom!) All in all, it is now my new favorite room in my new/old house and I plan to have many more decoration projects ahead of me. I even ended up keeping the linoleum in the bathroom, as the colors fit perfectly with my new theme!
