Bathroom Decorating Ideas: Relaxing Beach Elements, But Not Exactly A Beach Theme

If you’d like to create a relaxing beach atmosphere in your bathroom without trying to do some cheesy beach theme that will always fall short of your expectations, here are some wonderful tips on how to capture the feel of the beach in a classy way with an affordable budget. Margaret shares her story of how she did this perfectly:

When I moved into my new home I knew the first thing that I needed to do was redecorate my bathroom. The previous owners had left it with green and black faux marble vinyl tiles and plain white walls. It was so dull and drab. Right before I moved into my home, I had gone on a vacation to the beach. While I was there I decided I wanted to use the beautiful colors of the beach without having an actual beach theme in my bathroom. I was so inspired by the way the way these colors made me feel while I was on vacation, and I wanted to bring this feeling back to my home. I chose sand colored tiles for my floor and a lighter shade of sand for the walls. And I painted the trim white. I then chose Roman shades instead of curtains for the windows. The ones that I chose where vertically striped with all different shades of blue and also had a sand stripe and a white stripe. I bought bath rugs and a bath mat that matched the aqua blue color in the roman blinds. I bought a hurricane candle vase and placed a dark blue candle inside and surrounded it with sea glass in all different shades of blue. I purchased a mirror framed in white for the walls and two coordinating beach scene paintings encased in white frames for my walls. I purchased the paint and tiles at my local hardware store. And I purchased the Roman shades, rugs, bath mat, candles, mirror, and paintings at my local department store. I redecorated my bathroom for just under $300. I absolutely love the result, and I think for the money that I spent I ended up with a very nice bathroom. I get the relaxed feeling that I had while vacationing every time I relax in my bathtub.
